Fiber Internet - Now In Your Neighborhood

MaxxSouth Broadband is building Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) technology across its entire footprint and will need access to your yard to complete the neighborhood upgrade.

Yes, MaxxSouth Broadband may work in the easement or public rights of way. We will leave a small yard sign in the yard notifying you that we are building Fiber to your home. We make it our mission to put your yard and landscaping as we found it.

Right-Of-Way: A type of easement that allows companies to use a piece of land for the express purpose of public travel, such as creating bridges, roads, etc. It allows us to use land for public utilities, aka fiber-optic Internet.
 

Once the MaxxSouth construction team upgrades the neighborhood with Fiber, our installation team needs to complete the Fiber-to-the-Home upgrade.

During this appointment, the technician will install a small utility box called an optical network terminal (or ONT) outside or inside your home.

The installation team will run an optical jumper to the ONT to connect your home to the fiber-optic network. The ONT will connect to your router via an Ethernet connection. The ONT is a modem equivalent and there is no charge for this device when you subscribe to a MaxxSouth Fiber package.

In order to ensure the fastest, easiest, and least damaging installation process, being told in advance about these types of things is a must. They can be painted or marked with flags as well to assist our technicians.

To aid in avoiding problems or damaging other utilities, all markers and paint need to stay until the installation process is fully complete.

Fiber Internet uses fiber optic cables, made of thin strands of glass, to deliver internet directly to your home. Fiber uses laser pulses to carry Internet data, which is better for data transmission over long distances. Fiber cables can also carry much more bandwidth than similarly sized copper cables and are immune to signal interference.

Rebuilding our entire cable plant to Fiber Internet is a massive undertaking and will be completed over the next ten years. MaxxSouth Broadband is dedicated to building hundreds of miles of fiber each year, and will continue to do so until our entire footprint is complete

MaxxSouth Fiber provides symmetrical upload and download speeds for Internet with Unlimited Data. Our bandwidth plan ranges from 25 Mbps to 1000 Mbps download and upload speeds. This is especially important if your family uses multiple devices for multiple high-usage activities like streaming, gaming, video chatting or smart home devices. Buckeye Fiber lets you do all these things, at the same time, without sacrificing performance.

Fiber gives you the ability to have symmetrical uploads and downloads, so your computer is able to send data as quickly as it receives it. Symmetrical download and upload speeds are exactly the same. For instance, MaxxFiber 100 will have 100 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload speeds.

As an example, symmetrical speed provides a better user experience for those that video conference. In order for you to have a productive meeting online, you have to hear and see others in real time, without delay. MaxxFiber provides this benefit.

Our current system is a Fiber-to-the-Node construction. This type of system delivers services over Fiber to a point in your neighborhood. From there, it is sent to your home over a coaxial cable. There are many benefits to a Fiber-to-the-Home system, the biggest of which is the ability to offer symmetrical (same upload and download) Internet speeds

MaxxSouth Fiber Internet is capable of delivering faster speeds than coaxial cable Internet. That’s not to say Cable Internet isn’t fast—Cable Internet can reach speeds up to 1,000 Mbps, which is plenty of speed for most everything you can do online. MaxxFiber is simply better equipped to handle more bandwidth by providing symmetrical speeds and sends information at the speed of light. Large amounts of data can travel very quickly, making Buckeye Fiber ten times faster than copper wire connections.

With traditional Internet, high-frequency electrical signals shoot through copper wires to deliver the information, or data, needed to game, stream and communicate over the internet. This copper wire was originally intended for transmitting simple voice data over shorter distances, though. It was never meant to carry large amounts of data at high speeds.
